With a big growing library full of Disney books, my daughter very excited when we were sent a review copy of the new book, Minnie in Paris. The book is a sweet story about Minnie going to Paris to take her bows to the fashion runway. With a few mishaps she ends up creating new bows with all the souvenirs she gathered in Paris. My daughter and I were inspired to create our own bows and enjoyed making a snap bow necklace together. The interchangeable bows inspired by Minnie’s designs in the book are a great way to dress up a preschool outfit or be a bow designer during pretend play at home in our Disneyland family game room. The Minnie in Paris book begins with Minnie’s excitement at receiving an invitation to a Paris fashion show. After a luggage mixup with Penguini the Musician, Minnie needs to create new bows with very little time. Following Penguini’s bunnies through Paris gives her just the inspiration she needs to design an entire collection of bows perfect for the runway. The sweet story and whimsical art are just a couple of reasons why the book is my daughter’s new favorite before bedtime. We added the Disney ebook that came with the book purchase to my daughter’s iPad and she enjoys reading her new book electronically too.
Minnie in Paris snap bow necklace tutorial
- scrap fabric (each bow requires approximately 4″ x 4″ fabric)
- fabric glue
- snap hardware and rotary punch
Each bow has its own snap component. Cut your fabric for the first bow depending on your preferred size. Then cut a small strip of the same or coordinating fabric to wrap around the center of the bow. Use a rotary punch to set a snap pin on the edge of the strip of fabric.
Make more bows for your interchangeable snap necklace and decorate with embellishments. My daughter was very specific and wanted sparkly centers on each bow. You could get creative with fabric markers, iron on rhinestones, or other embellishments.
