Cherry LemonadeIt’s citrus season here and lucky for us, my parents have a lemon tree! Nothing beats fresh-squeezed lemonade! It’s soooo good. And, combining it with other fruit flavors is just above and beyond! The peach lemonade slush we made over the summer is out of this world! So, when my mom had the idea to try a cherry version, I was sold. How perfect is this for Valentine’s Day?! It’s so bright pinkish-red and fun! And, seriously all, the taste is amazing!!!! Fresh cherry lemonadeAnother bonus is this is insanely easy to make. We wanted it on the slushy side, so we used a blender and ice. It makes for a delightful, frozen, slushy drink. But, if that’s not your style, you certainly wouldn’t have to make it that way. Just experiment with the recipe below. Blended Cherry LemonadeAnd, given our access to lots of free citrus, we made ours with fresh-squeezed lemon juice. But, if you don’t have access to that, you could certainly experiment with store-bought lemon juice or even with store-bought lemonade. With the dark cherries added in, the taste and bright color is so great! YUM! Cherry Lemonade SlushEnjoy the recipe below!

Ingredients

  • 1 C dark pitted cherries we used frozen
  • 2 1/4 C sugar
  • 2 C lemon juice
  • 4 C ice cubes
  • 5 C water

Instructions

  • Place about 1C dark pitted cherries in a small bowl with 1/4 C sugar. Set aside while you get juice the lemons.
  • Juice lemons to get about 2 C lemon juice.
  • In a blender, dump in the cherry/sugar mixture into the blender. Dump in the sugar. Then, add in the 2 cups of lemon juice, 1 cup of water, and about 3 cups of ice. Blend well. Pour blender contents into a pitcher.
  • Then, in the blender combine 4 cups of water with another cup of ice. Blend well and pour contents into the pitcher.
  • Stir the pitcher contents to combine and serve immediately.

Notes

Notes: If you don't want it slushy, just play with the ingredients, subbing water for the ice. Also, depending on the tartness of your lemons, you may need a bit more sugar. But, this ratio was perfect for us.

  1. It is too cold here to be looking at things like Lemonade! But it sure does look delicious. I personally will stick with the slushy version. Mm I can’t wait for my mom’s cherry tree to produce again.
