I’m sitting at the Disneyland Resort and finally taking time to share the fun Disney-inspired fabric tie headbands that we made last spring (originally for the Disney Social Media Moms Conference). Currently, I’m wearing the red Minnie Mouse inspired one pictured above and love it! And, the Star Wars one was SUCH a hit while in line for Star Tours! Two male cast members even commented on how cool it was! So, these headbands are perfect to make for an upcoming Disney trip. We made these before my first sewing endeavor, so my mom was instrumental in making these (she’s the one with the good sewing skills)! For a pattern, we just used one of the many fabric headbands that I already own (and had purchased elsewhere). But, if you don’t have that option, I highly recommend buying an inexpensive fabric headband pattern like this one from the Sewing Loft. You’ll pick about 1/8 yard of a Disney-inspired print that you like and then use additional fabric to make the “flowers” or Mickey head! 🙂 The Mickey head was done by making 3 separate rosette-style “flowers”, sewing them together and then sewing it on to the headband. The ear to head ratio isn’t exactly right, but not too bad for a first-attempt. We made the Star Wars headband the same way, just with a white “flower” instead of a Mickey head. We had made the boys matching Star Wars outfits out of that fabric and mama needed something to match! I love the way it turned out and it is SO super cute when the boys are in their Star Wars stuff! And, how cute is that little outfit that my mom made? Once you get the hang of making them, they aren’t too bad. The hardest part is folding over the edges so tiny. But, the end result is super fun and not too expensive to make. They get comments every time I’m wearing one at a Disney park! I love them!
