Project Life – Vintage Travel Core Kit {Travel Tuesday}

This post is part of a paid campaign with American Crafts, but all opinions are my own. I am SO excited to say that I’ve finally gotten started on my first ever Project Life album and I used the Vintage Travel Core Kit on my first few pages! Project Life Vintage Travel KitAre you familiar with Project Life? Created by Becky Higgins (who I had the pleasure of meeting in 2011 & then again at CHA in January), it’s a wonderful approach to scrapbooking designed to simplify the process. Before kids, I was an avid traditional scrapbooker. But, between teaching, kids, and then blogging, I’ve had trouble making the time to fit it in. I have 24,000 photos on my computer (I wish I was joking) that span the last 6 years, but very few have made their way out of the computer into any kind of documentation (other than the blogs). Sad! And, I want that to change. I want more of our family’s memories documented in a tangible way. So, after sharing how cool Project Life looked, Mr. Mom Endeavors bought me my first album & kit for Christmas. Hello…it’s August. Good grief! I don’t know what was holding me back, but now that I’ve finally gotten started…I.LOVE.IT! LOVE!

Seriously all, it’s SO easy! You can make it as simple or as complex as you want. While you certainly can still add embellishments or do fancy things, you actually don’t have to have any scissors, glue, tools, or any scrapbooking skills/experience! Really! So, if you’ve always said, “I’m not a scrapbooker”; “I can’t do that”; “I’m not creative”; “I don’t have time”, well, Project Life has taken away all of those excuses. Just look…

Starting Project LifeThat picture shows what I started with to make the first layouts I did –some of the Project Life photo pocket pages, the photos I had printed out, a scrapbooking pen, a paper cutter, and the Vintage Travel Core Kit. As it’s name suggests, this kit is great for documenting trips & travel. And with the dark, earthy colors & vintage feel, the kit is especially awesome for outdoorsy & nature stuff like hiking, camping, etc. Project Life Travel Kit LayoutThis summer we spent a bit of time up at a cabin in Northern Arizona and this kit was perfect for our pictures! I love the way the colors of the kit cards compliment the photos so well. And, it was SO easy!! LOVE! #ProjectLifeBut, don’t think that this Vintage Travel kit is only good for trips! I used the kit to do a two-page layout of some really really important events from this week–Big Brother’s first day of 1st grade AND Baby Brother’s first week of walking!!! The kit cards worked beautifully for this as well! Project Life Vintage Travel Core Kit LayoutI absolutely adore the “First Steps” layout! I wasn’t sure how I would use the photo pages with so many of the 3×4 slots, but these walking progression photos are perfect. He just started talking a bunch of steps on his own about two days ago and has already improved so much. So, I’m so glad that I’ve got some adorable documentation of these first wobbly steps! LOVE!Baby's First Steps Project LifeIsn’t it fun?! I’m SO glad to be back to scrapbooking, even if it is in a much simpler fashion. I desperately want our family’s “story” documented to remember in the years to come. After all, as this kit card says, “time flies by in the blink of an eye”! Project Life Travel Core Kit CardsIf you’ve already discovered Project Life, then I’m sure you know all about my excitement. But, if you’re new to Project Life (or scrapbooking in general), I’m telling you that you HAVE to start now!! It is SO doable! And, thankfully, Project Life is now widely available. In fact, Michaels carries one of the largest selections of Project Life. The Vintage Travel Kit featured here along with the Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic Core Kit (featuring an array of light blues, pinks, greens, yellows and airy neutrals with a distressed feel) are both exclusive kits found at Michaels. So, go out and pick one up! :)

Do you use Project Life?

  1. Yay baby brother. I LOVE the first steps layout.

  2. Thank you! You are the first person I have seen to show Project Life in it’s simplicity. Everyone else has been showing the more creative side and it did not do anything for me. The way you are using it is perfect for those that want quick, east, and no learning curve. Off to share this post with my readers…
