I am over-the-moon excited to say, “we’re going to Disney World!!” In exactly 4 weeks from right now, we’ll be headed to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration! We’ll be there for Mother’s Day and just a few days before my birthday! I can’t think of a more magical way to celebrate! What is DisneySMMoms?
Disney Social Media Moms Celebration is an invitation only conference for social media minded moms and dads. This professional conference takes place each spring at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida. The Disney Social Media Moms Celebration was created as one of the first family-friendly conferences where social media savvy moms and dads can network, learn, and share knowledge of social media while experiencing the magic of Disney with their families.
To be invited to this conference really is a dream come true for me. Back in late 2010 when I was new to the whole public blogging & social media scene (I’d had a private family blog for years before that), I stumbled upon the tweets about Disney Social Media Moms and it instantaneously became one of those “dream goals” (you know, the kind where you’re not sure it will ever happen, but it’s fun to dream about). So, when the invite came through, I may have gotten a little teary-eyed! Even though I’ve never been before, I know it is sure to be amazing! Getting the chance to learn from fabulous people in this social media field and network with colleagues, but not having to leave my family at home and work out childcare is fabulous. Couple that getting to experience Disney World for this first time as a family and it almost seems too good to be true. But, it is true! Squeee!!! 😉 I love this post from One Mom Media that sums it up!
Family Firsts!
In addition to being our first time to #DisneySMMoms, it will be a trip of many other firsts:
- It’s the first trip for our family to Walt Disney World! Mr. Mom Endeavors traveled there once as a kid in 1989 and I was there once in 1991 with my family. We both remember little bits and pieces, but honestly not a ton. Plus, MUCH has changed in 20+ years. 😉 We’ve been to Disneyland many times, but Disney World is a whole new experience!
- It’s Baby Brother’s first trip to any Disney park (not counting the time in the pictures above where we was just a mere 3.5 weeks from being born! 😉 )! I’m thinking his little sweet face is going to be uber cute in his first Mickey ears!
- It’s our first time being at a Disney park with an infant! The youngest thus far has been Little Brother on our trip in 2011 who was almost 16 months and had already been walking for months. Baby Brother will turn 10 months while we’re there. And, unless something drastic changes in the next couple of weeks, we will NOT have a walker (thank goodness)! 😉 We’ll for sure be doing lots of babywearing & stroller using while we’re there!
- It’s our first time flying by ourselves with all 3 kiddos in tow…eek! And, BIG eek…it’s our first time flying cross-country with any kids. And, HUGE eeeekkkk…it’s our first red-eye flight with kids! Gah! Fingers crossed for as much sleep as possible for all involved! 😉
Super fun, right?! We still haven’t told the boys!! I can’t WAIT!!!
So stay tuned here and on Disney Mentor Moms for fun Disney posts to come! There will likely be some fun in the next month leading up to the event (like the Disney Crafts roundup). And, there will definitely be lots to share after our trip! To see more about the conference, follow along with the hashtag #DisneySMMoms on twitter/instagram/etc.
Have YOU been to Disney World? What tips do you have for me? Favorite must-do attractions? I’d love to hear all about it!
*Note: This post is not sponsored in any way, I’m just SUPER excited to go! 🙂

Have the best time ever!
You’re going to have a blast! (or so I hear, I’ve never been to anything Disney, sad I know) Way to go on getting that dream goal this year. That is super exciting.
How exciting! Have a blast!
I can’t remember where I read it, but a mother wrote a blog or there was an article about a mother who actually made little care packages for those sitting around her on the plane. She and her husband had to fly cross county with their VERY young twins and so they made these little gift bags with gum, earplugs, cookies, with a little note “from the babies”, apologizing in advance if they were inconsolable. The article got a lot of flack but I thought it was such a creative way to start off a trip that might already be a little harried in a positive and fun way.
Good luck on the travels! I’m still not brave enough!
Yay!! You’re going to have an amazing time!!
It sounds like so much fun! We’ve never been to Disney, but I hope to take the kids one day. Can’t wait to read all about it. Congratulations!
