What to do with the leftover Christmas ham? {10+ recipe ideas using ham}

If you’re any­thing like our fam­ily, then in a few days time, you’ll prob­a­bly have a fair bit of left­over Christ­mas ham. So, I’ve rounded up a few great recipes that can help you use up all that deli­cious ham while maybe try­ing a new recipe or two!

First up, if you’re read­ing this before dis­card­ing the ham bone then do NOT throw it away! You can make SOME super deli­cious soups using the ham bone with just those bits of ham attached around it that are hard to get off. I’ve got a recipe for ham & bean soup that you make this way. It’s SUPER easy to do & is deli­cious served with corn bread. Per­fect for the cold win­ter nights! White House Black Shut­ters has a sim­i­lar ham soup idea, only hers has pota­toes & bar­ley added too. Yum! And, if you’re look­ing for creamier soup ideas, then check out the ham & potato soup from The Girl Who Ate Every­thing and/or this ham & corn chow­der from The Gour­mand Mom. YUM!

If you’re not feel­ing soups, there are still plenty of options. How about some break­fast ideas?! I think this cheesy hash­brown & ham casse­role from Mommy’s Kitchen would be per­fect for the morn­ing served up with some scram­bled eggs!  You could also try these break­fast slid­ers that I made dur­ing foot­ball sea­son. Seri­ously, SO good! They would be GREAT to serve if you’ll be hav­ing com­pany the week after Christ­mas! Or, if you like this slid­ers con­cept, but want some­thing a lit­tle more savory (more for lunch or din­ner), then check out I Heart Naptime’s ham & cheese rolls or these “Hal­lelu­jah Ham Rolls” from Nest of Posies. With Hal­lelu­jah in the title, they must be super good! ;)

And, if you want to get really cre­ative, I found 3 ham recipes that seemed super unique to me, yet sound really good (noth­ing too weird): Chicken Cor­don Bleu Pizza from Cof­fee and Can­no­lis, Ham & Pineap­ple Melts from Closet Cook­ing, and Ham & Cheese Bread (yes, bread) from The Nap­time Chef. Mr. Mom Endeav­ors LOVES chicken cor­don bleu. So, I think I am def­i­nitely try­ing that pizza next week!!

    We ALWAYS plan to have left­over ham so we can make ham/bean soup a favorite. I thinkham is my favorite meat to just eat. Hot or Cold.Great sand­wiches. A friend was in WI and was served a Ham sand­wich on home­made sour­dough bread with a thin layer of rasp­berry jam. He made me one when I vis­ited. YUMMY.
