Do you ever find yourself being crazy busy during meal times, not wanting to stop to make dinner? I had one of those days this week as we were prepping for Thanksgiving! Wednesday was super busy, with time spent shopping, cooking, and getting our house ready to host Thanksgiving. The kitchen was a disaster and I didn’t want to stop to make something else for dinner. So, instead of turning to fast food or take out, it was great to just give the boys a Kidfresh meal! I discovered the Kidfresh meals at Safeway while doing some Thanksgiving shopping (you can see that whole shopping trip in my Google+ album here). And, I knew they’d be perfect for healthier, convenient meal options for the kids. I was rather impressed with the nutrition facts and ingredients. And, I especially like the fact that there are vegetable purees hidden inside. A win-win! The boys LOVE “noonies” (aka Mac&Cheese), so I grabbed a couple boxes of those and some cheesy quesadillas. If you visit the Kidfresh page on Facebook, you can get a coupon for $1/off an entree, making them a really affordable option!

The meals were SO easy to prepare! And, right off the bat, I noticed the real cheese and was impressed as compared to many processed/frozen options. In the midst of all of my Thanksgiving prep, I just popped the meals in the microwave and a couple of minutes later my boys were eating dinner! They both loved their “noonies”. So, I’ll definitely be keeping a few of these on hand for convenient options!

What are your go-to kid-friendly, convenient meals?

  1. Our usual for the day before Thanksgiving is pizza or fast food…not the best options. But this is a great idea and a way to get something really healthy for the kids without them feeling like they are eating something healthy.
