We LOVE the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park! They are both fabulous places to visit any time of the year, but they’re extra great for families in October as children under the age of 11 can get into either of the two zoos for free! This has been a tradition of the San Diego Zoo for the past 27 years and the fifth year the Safari Park has participated in the kids free program. 
To make a visit to the Zoo and Safari Park more interactive, families can pick up a list of “101 Things To Do” and check off activities during their visit. Plus, weekend visitors to Kids Free at the Zoo and Safari Park will experience even more kid-friendly activities with additional animal meet-and-greets, keeper talks, activity booths and costume character appearances. There’s even a chance to participate in the Camp Critters show at the Zoo or to “race” a cheetah at the Safari Park! 
The Cheetah Run at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park was one of the coolest things we’ve ever seen–and one of the hardest to photograph! 😉 Talk about fast!! The kids loved it. I shared with you all of our love of the San Diego Zoo last year, but the San Diego Zoo Safari Park is awesome too! We love some of the animal encounters we’ve had there! 
It’s great seeing the animals in a larger, more open environment. There is so much to see & do! Definitely great for a trip with the kids!
So, if you live in Southern Cali or are making a trip to San Diego this month, definitely check out the San Diego Zoo and/or Safari Park to take advantage of “Kids Free in October”!

Now that my kids are all grown up. I still wanna go. The boys stopped wanting us DRAGGING them to zoos when they where teens. 🙁 Hubby and I still stop at ALL zoos when on vacations. 🙂 This place looks great.
If you love zoos, Carol, you would LOVE it there!!! Both the San Diego Zoo & the Safari Park are fabulous! After those though, I think the next best is Henry Doorly in Omaha (which is just a tad closer to you 😉 )
Henry Doorly zoo is FABULOUS. We have been there 3 times. 🙂
