Wow, it’s June! That means baby will be here next month (WHOA) and we are definitely now in the home stretch with just single-digit weeks left to go!! And, it shows–both in my big ‘ole belly and the common 3rd trimester aches & pains that have started to become more common. From time to time, I have those lovely things like pelvic pain, sciatica, shortness of breath, and the pregnancy waddle. But, it makes a lot of sense when you look at the changes in just a few short months. Here’s a glimpse:

See…big belly!! With my crazy short torso, I think I’m already as big as many gals at delivery! And, just think, I very likely have 8 more weeks to go!! 😉 Just for fun, I thought I’d fill out some of the questions I see on the typical week-by-week pregnancy surveys:

How far along? 32 weeks and 4 days
Total weight gain: 10 lbs.
Maternity clothes? Definitely, yes! But, there actually are still some non-maternity shirts & comfy pants I can wear just fine .
Stretch marks? Very few new ones, but elastic skin is not something the women in my family have been blessed with. 🙁 From the previous two pregnancies, my abdomen looks like it’s been clawed by a mountain lion!
Sleep: Mostly ok, but getting harder & harder to easily switch sides.
Movement: Lots!
Gender: Still a BOY!
Labor Signs: No (thank goodness!)
Belly Button (in or out?): Almost out–mostly flat right now, but not sure if it can hang on for 8 more weeks!
Wedding Rings (on or off): Still on, though I’m assuming on for a couple more weeks at most (I usually swell a fair bit toward the end).

The best part about this week was once again an ultrasound! We had Baby #3’s 2nd growth scan and once again, everything looks great! It’s definitely clear that he is following in Little Brother’s footsteps in size. Even with the concerns about the SUA (two-vessel cord), this little guy is HUGE! His estimated weight was approaching 5 pounds! Seriously, I have known people that have delivered FULL TERM babies in the 5 pound range where as he is only 32 weeks! If he puts on the expected 1/2lb+ per week, then that could be one large baby!! EEK! With averaging all of his measurements, he’s still hanging out in the 75th percentile+!! In fact, his average measurements put him very close in size to a typical 34 weeker. And, most concerning from his mama’s perspective (who is hoping for yet another vaginal delivery), his head size measured at 35 weeks+!! WOWZA! So, there are definitely NO concerns about the cord affecting his growth right now.

Since he is getting so big, it was much harder to get good pictures. And the little stinker was STILL transverse across my belly, complete with his hands & feet all up in his face. So, we couldn’t get a good 3D shot of his face once again! Bummer! But, this tech was super great and tried to get us something cute! Here’s what she got…

Look at those cute feet!! 🙂 She mentioned that he already had a nice plump leg, LOL! Very fun!

So thankfully, everything is looking great so far. My doctor wasn’t even concerned in the slightest about our Disneyland trip in 10 days! Woo hoo! After that, we need to get in serious new-baby prep mode (since we still have done almost nothing, lol!).

  1. Wow! That is awesome that you have only gained 10 lbs! I am only 23 weeks, and I am up to 20 lbs. I told myself as I was reading your blog it’s probably because this is your first while this is my third, but nope, I see this is your third too! Guess I can’t use that excuse anymore! Everyone is so different; it’s crazy!

Loved reading about your sweet baby today!

  2. Oh, and I may have commented on here once before. My 2nd had the 2-vessel cord too, so we were constantly going in for ultrasounds. She ended up weighing 9 lbs. 2 oz. and was a week early! Sounds like your little guy isn’t going to have problems being too small. 🙂

    1. Thanks so much for the comments, Briana! 🙂 Unfortunately, I’ve started out all of my pregnancies overweight, so the dr.’s never want me to gain any more than 20 pounds. Luckily, I’ve done well with that–the first two were right about 20 each (and I was actually 5-10 pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight by my 6 week check). And, so far, I’m doing well with it this time–hence the only 10 pound weight gain.
And, yes, THANK YOU for commenting on the two-vessel cord before. It was great to hear others’ stories! Definitely no size issues so far!! 🙂 Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!!
