Summer is the perfect time for eating lots of fresh fruit! Even though we certainly eat a lot of it year round, it seems like the volume of fruit consumption is upped quite a bit in the summer! And, did you know that during the summer, June specifically, is National Dairy Month?! Last year, I was an ambassador for Safeway’s June Dairy campaign and I’m back at it again this year! 🙂 So, we’re kicking things off this year with this super quick & easy, perfect for summer (and perfect for dairy month), fresh fruit dip recipe!

Fresh Fruit Dip

Ingredients:

– 1 8oz. container of cream cheese (room temp.)

– 1 C marshmallow creme

– 2 or 3 T orange juice (depending on how much citrus flavor you like)

– 1/2C – 1C drained crushed pineapple (I just used the whole little can since we love pineapple)

Directions:

SO easy! Combine all ingredients into a medium-sized bowl. *Note: it works better if the cream cheese is more at room temp vs. straight from the fridge. Stir well–or for extra creaminess & less lumps, beat for 1-2 minutes. That’s it! Then, chill & serve with your favorite fresh fruit. We think it’s especially good with strawberries and fresh pineapple! And, it works GREAT as the cream base for a fruit pizza!

It’s not only super easy (& super yummy), but gets you a couple of purchases toward the Safeway #JuneDairyMovies promotion! Here are all the details:

Safeway June Dairy Promo

From May 30-June 30, 2012, you will receive TWO movie vouchers when you spend $40 on participating dairy products at Safeway (or any of its affiliates).  Safeway tracks the dairy month promo progress right on your Safeway Club Card, so you can spend the $40 in one trip or across multiple shopping trips throughout the month. Your current dairy spending total will show up on the bottom of your receipt (ex. “you have spent $12.50 out of $40 in participating June Dairy items to earn two Free Movie Tickets.”). Another cool thing about the promo is that you can take advantage multiple times, as you’ll get two movie vouchers every time you hit the $40 mark on participating dairy products!!  You can visit June Dairy Movies to get more information on the promo!

The store made it very easy to find/notice the participating items in the promo. There were large signs throughout the dairy section mentioning the promotion. In addition, each participating item tag had a special blue portion (see the arrows above), identifying it as a June Dairy promo item. For the fresh fruit dip, both the orange juice and the cream cheese were participating items! 🙂 I love promos like this on food that I buy anyway! A sweet little reward and great way to celebrate National Dairy Month!

And, stay tuned for next week’s post with more info on the promo and details on redeeming your movie voucher! Yay for free movies! In the meantime, you can find other great recipes on the EasyHomeMeals.com site  or Facebook page.

  1. This looks great! I will have to remember this one for some of our neighborhood get togethers – I’m always looking for a great idea to bring over to the host/ess!

  2. Oh that sounds SO good! I have never made it like that before, I will for sure give it a try the next time I get fresh strawberries.
