May is Pregnancy Awareness Month (something I’ve very aware of right now at almost 28 weeks along!
and it’s all about “inspiring women during pregnancy with educational initiatives spotlighting nutrition, wellness, and all around nurturing.” P.A.M. was established in 2008, with the goal of empowering, inspiring and building a community of support for expectant women and families.
With currently being pregnant with baby #3, I am very aware of how important it is to be empowered and educated about the myriad of topics & options related to pregnancy and birth (and beyond into parenting in general). In addition, I know how important it is to have a good support system! My husband and family have always been great, but there was a time (especially when Big Brother was a newborn & all the struggles I had with breastfeeding) when I felt like I didn’t have as much other mom/community support. It can be a rather isolating feeling!
So, I felt it was important to share about Pregnancy Awareness Month with you!! This year, the kick-off event is Sunday, May 6 at the Skirball Center in Los Angeles (and I so wish that I was going)!
This is a FREE EVENT for pregnant women, new parents, new grandparents, and families with young children! There will be panels/sessions full of valuable information & resources, some of the top companies in the baby industry, and even a Mommy Pampering Spa. And, it’s all hosted by Catherine McCord, Josie Maran, Lisa Loeb and Anna Getty! So, if you’re in the Los Angeles area, you should definitely check it out!
If you’re like me and sadly not in the area, you can follow along with the live streaming coverage. Or you can check out some of their other events in other areas of California, Chicago and Atlanta. Plus, you can follow along on twitter (using the hashtag #MayPAM) and on their Facebook page! They’re having some great twitter parties and running some fabulous giveaways! And, speaking of giveaways…
