For those of you that celebrate Easter, I hope you had a great day yesterday! We started the day off by checking out all the fun things in the Easter basket I had put together earlier in the week. They loved everything, but especially the Hot Wheels inside their big eggs! Boys, go figure! 😉We then went to church–where we had a big pancake breakfast & Easter egg hunt. Last year, our family made the switch from doing our big Easter dinner just after church to late in the afternoon. It was a GREAT change for us, as well as our grandparents! So, our family came over  around 4:00pm–perfect for an egg hunt before dinner!

The boys had a blast this year! It was so fun to have Little Brother participate–he loved every minute! And, some of their bigger cousins (and Aunt) got in on the search too (especially because there was some money in some of the eggs. Nothing like a little $$$ as a participation motivator for teenagers 😉 )!

Given the craziness in our family over the past two weeks (which included both boys’ birthdays, family in town visiting, two family members in the hospital, and a funeral for one of them), we kept things pretty low-key. Sadly there was no pretty fruit bouquet or certainly nothing fancy like this fabulous carrot insanity:

But, we did have lots of yummy food including the best potato salad ever (a family recipe that I need to post sometime) and ambrosia. And, most importantly, we had a nice time simply enjoying time together.

Happy Easter, 2012!

What kinds of Easter festivities did YOU do? Did you go all-out with fun foods/decorations or keep things rather low-key?

We kept things very simple. The eather was perfect and we ate out doors. A potluck/picnic. Our 1st Family gathering since Mom passed away in MArch.
