We’re “going green” for St. Patrick’s Day today, but not in the most traditional way! Instead, we’re talking about being green with gardening! If you’ve read the site for a while, then you know we have been having a lot of fun & learning a lot from our first-ever garden. It’s been such a great learning experience for the boys, but I haven’t found a lot of gardening resources geared specifically to a young age. Then, I heard about Go Green and Giggle® and we ordered a Book & Tote Garden Activity Gift Set.

The site is adorable and the cute characters in the Gigglin’ Garden Gang are great for teaching young kids about gardening!

As soon as we got our kit, the boys couldn’t wait to see what was inside. The kit contains a tote, book, song CD, and the materials to start growing your own sunflowers! 🙂

After checking everything out, the boys wanted to read the book. It’s a cute story about Suzi Sunflower and the rest of the Gigglin’ Garden Gang.

At the end of the story, we found our packet of sunflower seeds and Big Brother was excited to plant them.  There are directions in the kit, but I thought it would be more interesting to him to have a visual. So, we went to the site and checked out what to do with our seeds.

So, we went outside and started the process. Big Brother loved getting everything going and was so excited to do it himself We’re looking forward to our sunflower seeds sprouting in just a few more days and then transplanting them to our back wall. I’m hoping for a wall of giant sunflowers this summer!!

Whether or not you have a garden already going, The Gigglin’ Garden Gang would be great to check out if you have little ones & would like to teach them more about how things grow, the environment, or being green in general. Here’s their great motto:

  • Get Outdoors
  • Take a Breath of Fresh Air
  • Protect Mother Earth
  • Recycle with Care

  1. Go Green and Giggle is adorable. I wish there had been such a thing when my boys where small. They LOVED to play in the dirt. We always let them help plant and harvest. Now we have 2 Grandsons. The 4 yr old love to help Papa in the yard/garden. He just likes to be outside and doing what ever Papa is doing. Papa’s sidekick. 🙂 Sunflowers are a wonderful 1st growing experiance for the boys. They usually are easy to grow with AMAZING results !!! Enjoy the weekend, big hugs…
