Jump on the Pinterest Train!

This post is long overdue. For those already immersed in blogging, social media, etc, you’ve likely already jumped on the Pinterest train. If you’re like me, you’ve been on it for at least half a year already. But, lately, I’ve been surprised by the number of my real-life friends and family haven’t yet heard of or starting using the awesomeness that is Pinterest.

So, for those of you not yet in the know.…what is Pinterest? Basically, it’s a virtual pin board. You can “pin” anything you find interesting to your boards. Hence, “Pinterest”. And, the beauty is you can categorize/name your boards in any way that you choose and you can have just about as many boards as you like to help keep everything organized. I’m up to 40 boards (and 1350 pins)! :)

How many times have you been reading a blog or surfing the web and found a great idea that you want to remember? For me, that’s like every day! In the days before Pinterest, I was always forgetting where I bookmarked it or wrote it down. No more. Now, I can pin ANYTHING I like from anywhere on the web and then find it easily through my categorized boards. The other thing I L.O.V.E is that Pinterest is SO visual since you pin images to your boards. Here’s a snapshot of what some of my boards look like:What makes Pinterest extra cool (and actually part of the social media world) is that you can connect, interact, and get “pinspiration” from others! Just like facebook, twitter, etc. you have followers and can follow others. The recent pins of everyone you follow show up in your “newsfeed” of sorts. If you like something you see, you just hit repin! Easy peasy! So, really, the more people you follow–the more cool ideas show up on your main page. If you’re interested, you can follow me here: http://pinterest.com/momendeavors/

As with any site like this, there is some basic etiquette that should be followed. Most important from a blogger perspective is actually pinning from a website (NOT google images) and pinning from the ORIGINAL source. Here is a GREAT post all about Pinterest–Miss Manner’s Style! :) For months, Pinterest has been my #1 traffic driver, so I appreciate it when people follow this etiquette–and thank you for pinning ideas from Mom Endeavors!

So, if you’re not on Pinterest yet.…you should be! :) If you have questions, let me know. And, if you need an invite to join, just let me know in the comments and I’ll invite you! If you’re already on Pinterest, feel free to leave your Pinterest link in the comments so we can follow each other!

Happy Pinning!

Hey, give me (or at least a few of my boards) a follow. I pin everything from fashion to sports, so there is something for everyone.

Oh, and if I get a follow (from anyone, on any board), I always make sure to check out all of that person’s boards to see what to follow (or follow all of them)!

    Happy pinning!
