Walmart Baby Days: Our New Toddler Mealtime Routine {Giveaway!!}

Mealtime is obviously an important part of our daily routine. It’s especially a big deal for Little Brother who REALLY likes to eat! 🙂 And, for the past many months, Little Brother’s feeding time looked a lot like this:Since then, we’ve transitioned from baby foods to all table foods. But, we hadn’t transitioned our mealtime routine otherwise. He’s still been eating in the high chair, with foods just set right on his tray (or one of us feeding him). Recently though, it’s become clear that we should transition him into a new, more toddler-like mealtime routine. He notices the differences between how he eats vs. how his big brother does it and been vocalizing his opinion on the subject (by pointing & screaming)!

So, while on a recent shopping trip to Walmart, I made sure to pick up some of the toddler mealtime items we needed. We have a Walmart less than a mile from our house & with their low prices, it makes it a really affordable & convenient “one-stop shop” for us! See?!…. It was a whole cart-load of stuff for just under $150! You can check out the video for a more detailed look at what we got, plus Little Brother’s first meal with his new set-up! 🙂

I did almost all of the shopping in-store and some of the products I got don’t seem to be listed on-line. Though, on-line, there is a BIG variety of products that weren’t in stores. With the site-to-store shipping, it’s SO easy to shop on-line and then pick up in-store. Here’s a few of the items we got that you can find on-line (and probably  most in your local store as well)!

  • The Fisher Price Healthy Care Deluxe Booster Seat was our biggest purchase and I was thrilled with the price–currently on “rollback” for $21.97!! It really was a great solution to move Little Brother from the high chair to the table with us!
  • The Summer Infant Portable Placemat is great for mealtime at home or on the road! While I do love having some of the disposable table toppers handy in the diaper bag, the portable placemat really is a much better eco-friendly option and much less expensive in the long-run!
  • And, also for mealtime out & about, I think these new Johnson’s Hand & Face wipes are great! I love that they’re alcohol free, making them much gentler on baby hands than traditional sanitizing wipes! Yet, they still have germ fighting capabilities with the Johnson’s No More Tear formula!

I was really pleased with the prices–nothing was over $25 and all but two of the items were less than $10!! Take a look:

    My son loves the food pouches that are put out by Happy Baby, Ella Organics, or Plum Organics! They are less mess than jars and he can feed himself.

    I let baby eat dinner with the family…that way they feel a part of the group…I also clean up as soon as dinner is done…the dark sauces can stain if left a long time!

    My 1 and a half year old makes a MESS when ever he eats! We make sure to have bibs, and I to break up his food into more bite-sized pieces when he’s eating.

    my kids eat so much better if i have plates with sections in them. for some reason it helps. i guess t also helps with the food not touching each other:)

    Teaching jack the sign for more was probably the best thing we ever did. As an infant he could sign it and now that he’s talking more, we are able to know when he’s done or looking for something else.

    Fun bibs and placemats help little ones keep from getting too distracted by all the food that isn’t on the floor yet!
