After trying to breastfeed two little guys, Medela is a brand that I’ve become very familiar with (more so than I ever planned on)! And, I can genuinely say that I not only LOVE their products, but would not have been able to give much breastmilk to my children without them. Because of my breastfeeding struggles, I’ve purchased purchased Medela’s Supplemental Nursing System, bottles, creams, cleaning wipes, more Quick Clean MicroSteam Bags than I could possibly count (they are one of my “must-have” baby products) and used my Medela Pump In Style breastpump round the clock for months! With Little Brother, I even rented Medela’s Symphony Hospital-Grade Pump.
Thanks to Medela, I recently got to check out the new Pump in Style Advanced!
It’s a definite upgrade to the pump that I purchased over 4 years ago! Here are the specs from Medela’s site:

Features and Benefits:

  • Daily use · double pump · electric
  • Adjustable speed/vacuum dial lets mom choose her most comfortable setting.
  • Removable PVC-free cooler bag with contoured ice pack keeps milk cool for up to 12 hours.
  • Battery pack lets mom pump anywhere, anytime. (Optional 9V vehicle lighter adapter available).
  • More milk in less time with 2-Phase Expression® technology when pumping at Maximum Comfort Vacuum™.
  • Everything included in an attractive microfiber tote for fast and easy pumping.
  • Helpful storage pockets for organization.
  • Convenient integrated work surface for mom.
  • Double pumping kit includes PersonalFit™ breastshields.
  • All parts that come into contact with breastmilk are BPA-free.
  • IMPORTANT:  This product is a single user item.  Use by more than one user may pose a health risk, performance questions, and voids the warranty.

What’s Included:

  • Convenient microfiber tote bag
  • Battery pack (8AA batteries not included)
  • Removable cooler carrier
  • 4 – 5 oz breastmilk bottles, lids & travel caps
  • Wide base, slow-flow nipple
  • 2 – 24 mm PersonalFit™ breastshields
  • 2 valves
  • 4 membranes
  • Contoured ice pack
  • Breastfeeding Information Guide
  • Instructions
My thoughts:
I love the smaller, more sleek look to the bag than the previous model I had! Yet, it has WAY more storage space inside! The lighter color inside also makes it easier to see inside than the old all-black version.
I also love the feature of having a removable cooler pack! It fits into the tote perfectly with quite a bit of extra room on top!
So, it’s not only the perfect size, but MUCH more convenient than trying to put together & bring along a separate cooler bag! The new bottles are great also! Much nicer looking than what I had (new bottles on the left, my old bottle on the right).
The only thing it doesn’t come with that I think would be a nice addition is a bottle stand. While the new bottles do seem less tipsy than the old varieties, I wouldn’t want to take the risk. Whoever coined the phrase, “Don’t cry over spilled milk”, never spilled a bottle of breastmilk that they had worked so hard to pump (ask me how I know…).  The new bottles do fit the old containers though, which is great!

Overall, this new pump is outstanding! As a mom with extraordinary difficulties breastfeeding, I know all to well the value of a high-quality pump! If you are expecting a new little one (or are already a nursing mama), I wholeheartedly recommend Medela’s pumps (and their other products in general)! I’ve had great experiences with their customer service too!

Now, here is the extra exciting part: One lucky Mom Endeavors reader will WIN a Pump in Style Advanced from Medela (an approximate $300 retail value)!!! Remember, even if you’re not in need of a pump, this would make an AMAZING gift for a mom-to-be!

  1. I am expecting my second little one! I would love to upgrade the pump that I have. I bought one that was on clearance at Target for $16 (reg. $45). It worked well enough since I didn't have the money to buy anything too fancy. I had also been worried that I wouldn't end up breastfeeding long enough to make a big purchase worthwhile….Let me just say…two and half years later….my son won't give it up! Thank got that my being pregnant seems to have shut down the utters, because I think that's helping him to wean. He still won't drink regular cow's milk……and I've tried skim, 2%, 1%, whole, Soy, strawberry, chocolate, organic…..didn't try almond….but you get the idea!

Anyway, the point of all of that is that I know I can use the pump and make it worth it's value.

    Thanks so much!

  2. I would love to give this to my sister-in-law – it would help her make the transition of going back to work.

  3. I'd loved to win this pump! Right now I'm exclusively pumping for my 6 week old baby girl, I couldn't get her to latch properly and resorted to pumping for her. The pump handed down to me isn't the greatest, but unfortunately getting a new pump isn't in our family budget. Winning this Medela pump would make pumping so much easier for me! I love that the battery pack allows you to pump anywhere and I could really use that convenience! =)

  4. I am having a baby boy due August 23…my son is 9 and I just donated my pump last summer (I had one similar to this) to raise money for his summer camp…go figure! So I have no pump:) And no job…lol..this would really help:)

  5. I would love to give this to a friend who is due in about a month. I really think she could use this.
    Thanks for the chance,
    Mary

  6. I would LOVE to win because I have made it through two kids now with a cheap manuel hand breast pump since these ones are so expensive… we are trying for a 3rd now, and this would be an amazing upgrade!

  7. We're TTC baby #2, and I'd love to upgrade the pump I have – it's not a Medela 🙁 Hopefully by this time next year I'll have good reason to be using a new pump 🙂

  8. I'm trying for number three !!! and the Medela pump I used for the first two is due to be replaced. This would be awesome!

  9. I would use the pump to supply milk for Baby #2 whenever he/she makes the appearance in our lives. From my abilities, I know I would put it to the test! Or I could give it away as a superb gift to some lucky mother!

  10. I'm expecting my first in December and my sister raves about her Medela, but like you it's old. Hers is from her first little girl who is now 5.

  11. I would love to win. I have a really cheap pump, that takes forever. I have a three month old baby and it would be so nice to have a pump that really works

  12. I would like to win because I'm currently expecting my first baby. A good pump is expensive, but I think it's important to put my mind at ease as I breast feed for the first time. Crossing this off the registry list would be huge!

  18. I'm a new mom of twins and could really use this pump! My twins were in the NICU and bottlefed to monitor their milk intake. I lived in the hospital pump room to make sure they only got breastmilk from the beginning. Once home, a friend was generous enough to let me borrow her pump, but now it's breaking. With twins our budget is so tight. Since they never learned to latch on pumping is absolutely necessary. They've been on 100% breasmilk for over 3 months and I'm hoping to have the resources to continue.

  19. I am expecting a baby girl in September and would love to win this. I am going to breastfeed and will need a good pump when I go back to work. I work 12 hour shifts so I really need a good pump to keep up my milk supply.

  20. I'm pregnant of my 2nd baby! 😀

    Great giveaway!

    Thanks for the chance =)

  29. I would love to win this “pump in style” for my new little guy coming soon. I tried to breastfeed my first son and was not successful at all. Had to use formula that turned out to be another mission. We spent 2months in the hospital only to find out he’s lactosae intolerant.

    good luck to everyone (:
